Market Share Promotion Guidelines for Estate & Letting Agents

What this FAQ article covers:

I want to publish my Market Share data from Rightmove Plus, can I do this?

When publishing Market Share data from Rightmove Plus, whether on social media or during a valuation with a customer, please follow these guidelines:

  • Use the official certificate: make sure you use the official certificate from Rightmove Plus. If the ‘Print Certificate’ button is unavailable, the data cannot be shared publicly.
  • Brand customisation: you can change the certificate's colour to match your brand.
  • Include required information: your brand name, branch name, full address, and postcode must be included.
  • Certificate details: clearly show the date the certificate was produced and the name of the report (e.g., New Instructions produced 01/01/2024).
  • Postcode sectors: state each individual postcode sector (e.g., MK7 8).
  • Date range: indicate the date range used to generate the data (e.g., 01/01/24-31/03/24).
  • Filters applied: specify any filters applied (e.g., property type, price range); if none were applied, this must be stated.
  • Pie chart: use the full, unaltered pie chart with original data figures and anonymised data for other agents.
  • Data usage limits: use no more than the last 3 months' worth of data, which can be publicly available for up to 90 days.

These guidelines ensure accurate and transparent sharing of Market Share data. For more information on Market Share data, please see clause 3 of our Rightmove Plus Terms of Use Guidelines.

How do I report an unsubstantiated claim to Rightmove?

If you see a published Market Share Promotion created within Rightmove which doesn’t follow the Rightmove Plus Terms of Use Guidelines, please contact Data Quality with evidence of this. Evidence can be:

  • screenshot of the published data on social media
  • screenshot of a circulated email
  • photo or image of a leaflet or letter

What should I do if I've already made unsubstantiated claims in my Market Share Promotion?

Amend or remove these claims from public platforms as soon as possible. If they’re in printed materials, make every effort to retract these and make sure all published claims comply with the guidelines.

What happens if I make incorrect claims again?

The Data Quality team at Rightmove will contact you to highlight the issue and guide you regarding the necessary corrections. We have an 8-step course of action for market share promotions which breach our guidelines.
