We want property adverts on Rightmove to give home hunters a clear and accurate representation of the property being marketed.

If you believe a property advert contains misleading or inaccurate information, you can report it to our Data Quality team for review.

How do I report a misleading property advert?

You can report your concerns by emailing our Data Quality team or by calling us on 01908 712220.

When reporting a property advert, please provide:

  • A link to the property advert or a screenshot of the affected listing.
  • A brief explanation of what you believe is incorrect or misleading.
  • Any additional information or evidence that helps explain your concern.

The information we need may vary depending on what you are reporting.

What could be considered misleading?

There are several ways a property advert could potentially give home hunters a misleading impression of a property.

AI-generated or AI-enhanced images

AI-generated or enhanced images can be used on Rightmove, but they must not create a misleading or unrealistic representation of the property. AI images should be displayed alongside genuine photographs of the property, allowing home hunters to clearly understand its actual appearance and condition. They should not be used to disguise the property's true condition, add features that do not exist, or otherwise create an unrealistic impression of what is being offered.

If you believe AI imagery is being used misleadingly, please send us the property advert and briefly explain what you believe has been changed or misrepresented.

Incorrect property type

Properties should be advertised using an appropriate property type so that they appear in the correct searches for home hunters.

For example, it may be misleading to advertise:

  • A semi-detached or terraced property as detached.
  • A flat or apartment as a bungalow.
  • A property using another type that does not accurately reflect what is being marketed.

For property type concerns, we will usually only need a link to the advert or a screenshot showing the property and the property type being used. Our team can then review whether the selected property type appears appropriate.

Advertising an unavailable property

Properties advertised as available should genuinely remain available to prospective home hunters.

We generally consider a property to have become unavailable when the homeowner or landlord is no longer accepting or conducting further viewings. If you believe a property is no longer available but continues to be advertised as available, please provide the property advert and a brief explanation of why you believe it is unavailable. For example, this could include information that the property is already under offer, Sold STC, let agreed, or that you have been advised that no further viewings are being accepted.

What happens after I report an advert?

We will review the information you provide and determine whether the property advert needs further investigation.

Providing the property link, relevant screenshots and a clear explanation of your concern will help us understand the issue and decide what action, if any, is required.
