What should I do if a property is showing at the incorrect price on Rightmove?

If you believe a property is being advertised at a price that does not reflect the price it is genuinely available for, you can report this to our Data Quality team.

This includes where the incorrect price is:

  • The display price shown on the property listing.
  • A price included within the property description or summary.
  • A price being used so that the property appears within a different price range in search results.
  • Different from the price the agent advises when you contact them about the property.

For example, a property may be displayed on Rightmove at £1,000 per month, but when you contact the agent you are advised that the property is actually only available for £1,500 per month.

Why is this a problem?

The price used to advertise a property should accurately reflect the price at which the property is genuinely being offered.

Using an incorrect price can be misleading for home hunters and may cause a property to appear within searches where it would not normally be shown.

For example, someone searching for properties up to £1,200 per month could be shown a property advertised at £1,000 per month, despite the property actually being available for £1,500 per month.

This can result in home hunters seeing and enquiring about properties that do not genuinely match their search criteria or budget.

What information do I need to provide?

When reporting a potentially incorrect price, please provide as much information as possible to help us review the listing.

This could include:

  • A link to the property listing.
  • The price currently displayed on the listing.
  • The price you have been advised by the agent.
  • A screenshot or other evidence showing a different price, where available.
  • A brief explanation as to how you know the price is incorrect.

You do not need to contact the agent again to obtain additional evidence before reporting your concern to us.

What happens after I report it?

Our Data Quality team will review the information provided and, where appropriate, investigate whether the property is being marketed at the correct price.

We may contact the agent to confirm the price at which the property is genuinely available and ask them to correct the listing where necessary.

If we need any further information from you to investigate the concern, we will let you know.
