What are price reduction flags and what do they do?

If a property is reduced by 2% or more, the property will be sent out in Rightmove’s instant alert emails – notifying the keenest buyers or tenants of the new price.

The listing will have 'reduced today' or 'reduced on (date)' visible on the listing.

This kind of coverage can secure a sale or let, especially due to Rightmove's large audience. The alert coverage lasts for 7 days.

The Rightmove email alerts will include anyone who has set up a property alert on their My Rightmove account. The properties they are sent depend on the filters they've set up on their account and the new/reduced properties that match their criteria.

Can I remove Price reduction flags?

Yes, you can request price reduction flags to be removed. This is done at branch level where all flags will be switched off, it cannot be done for individual properties.

To remove price reduction flags for your branch, please email your request into customersupport@rightmove.co.uk

Scenarios and Guidelines - Price Reductions

The below applies to both sales and lettings listings. If a property is reduced by 2% or more, it can be reduced by a further 2% in the future to get another 'reduced today' flag and set of alerts. There is no limit as to how many times a property price is reduced.

ScenarioOutcome
Price decreases by 2% or moreThe Property will appear as 'reduced today' on the day it happens and will go out in the alerts for the subsequent 7 days
Price decreases by 2% or more, but in increments (more than one decrease)You will need make us aware of this within 5 working days of the first reduction. Providing the property has met the 2% reduction overall, we can manually re-list as 'reduced today' as this will not happen automatically.
Price decreases by less than 2%The property will not re-list as 'reduced today' or go out in the alerts.
If you wish the property to go out in the alert, you will need to reduce it by the further amount (within 5 working days of the first reduction) or by another full 2% (outside of 5 working days since the first reduction)
Accidentally reduced a propertyIf a property is incorrectly launched at the wrong price and quickly changed, we can make a change to remove this reduction.

Any changes that need to be made as per the above table, you will need to email into customersupport@rightmove.co.uk with the following information:
