A property transfer allows listings to be moved from one branch or business account to another while helping to maintain accurate property records and continuity for customers.
Property transfers are typically required when a business structure changes or when properties need to be managed by a different branch.
When is a Property Transfer Required?
Branch Closure
If a branch is closing, any active property listings should be transferred to another live branch within the business network.
This ensures that properties remain marketed without interruption and that enquiries continue to be directed to the correct branch.
Example:
Branch A closes and all active stock is transferred to Branch B.
New Branch Opening
If a new branch is being added, properties may need to be transferred from an existing branch to the new location.
This is commonly required when a business expands and wants specific stock to be managed by the newly opened branch.
Example:
A new branch opens in a neighbouring town and selected listings are moved from an existing branch to the new branch.
Business Closure and New Business Creation
If one business is closing and a new business is being established (a change of ownership), property listings may need to be transferred to the new business account.
This ensures active properties can continue to be advertised under the new business structure.
Example:
ABC Estate Agents ceases trading and its active stock is transferred to XYZ Property Group.
Note: Additional checks or permissions may be required when transferring properties between separate business entities.
Important to note: If the branding is changing, then the properties can be uploaded as new to the new branch.
Before You Begin
Before requesting a property transfer, ensure that:
- The destination branch or business has been created and is live.
- All branch details are correct.
- Any necessary internal approvals have been obtained.
- You have confirmed whether the transfer will be completed by your CRM provider or directly within Rightmove Plus.
If You Use a CRM Provider
Many customers manage their property data through a CRM system such as Alto/Vebra, Street, Reapit etc.
Where a CRM provider is used, the transfer process will need to be dealt with by Rightmove and the feed provider.
Process
- Contact Rightmove Contracts department to request a property transfer with the following information:
- Branch the properties are currently on
- Branch the properties are moving to
- CRM provider
- The properties you wish to transfer (you can access this list on Rightmove Plus via the Property List and clicking Export All)
- Whether you wish Rightmove to contact your CRM provider on your behalf or if you will be carrying out the transfer yourselves.
- Contact your CRM provider to request the property transfer.
- Rightmove will need to pause your feed in order to transfer the properties and will then notify you/your CRM that the branches are ready for the transfer.
- The CRM provider will complete the transfer and republish the listings to the new branch
- Rightmove will restart the feeds and ensure all the listings are showing on the correct new branch.
How to Complete a Property Transfer in Rightmove Plus
If your properties are managed directly in Rightmove Plus, please reach out to Rightmove Contracts department as they will be able to transfer the properties for you.
You will need to include the following information in your email:
- Branch name properties are currently on
- Branch name properties are moving to
- A list of the properties you want moved over
- Date you wish this to be done
Premium Listings and Property Data
Properties will lose their premium listings in the transfer process. Rightmove are able to reapply premium listings to properties that are "Available". It is not possible to reapply Premium Listings to properties which are "SSTC" or "Under Offer".
All historic data on the transferring properties does not get transferred with them. You will need to download the reports on Rightmove Plus if you need to keep these for your own records.
Important Considerations
- Property transfers may take time to process depending on the method used.
- Transferring a property may affect associated branch information displayed on listings.
- Ensure all transferred properties are reviewed after completion to confirm they are displaying correctly.
- Any issues should be reported to your CRM provider or the relevant Rightmove support team.
